A Wedding Comic Book

Anubha Mahajan is an avid fan of Bakarmax. Her love for Bakarmax is so great that she wanted us to be a part of her brother’s wedding. This was a first for us – we had never worked on weddings before. It was an honour to be trusted with something this personal.

What made this wedding special was that the bride and the groom belonged to two different Indian states and cultures. Anubha had stressed on why this wedding comic was so important for them. The theme here was ‘milan’ – the coming-together of not just two individuals in love but also two families and cultures.

We came up with a number of ideas and sent them rough sketches for approval. We eventually finalised on 4 illustrations.

After the final sketches were approved, we quickly got to work.

We then started working on the front and the back cover. This had illustrations of both the families. More time was dedicated to get the details right here.

The current back-cover image was an inside joke. Initially they wanted it as a part of the main comic but it did not fit. We then suggested making it into a doodle at the back.
