The Hunger Project- Animated outreach videos

The Hunger Project (THP), is a global organisation committed to the sustainable end of world hunger. With ongoing programs in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, it implements programs aimed at mobilising rural grassroots communities to achieve sustainable progress in health, education, nutrition, and family income

THP approached us to create animated films on 2 topics which were of extreme high priority in the communities they were working in, namely “The 6 fundamental rights” and “Girls as active citizens” for their internal and external stakeholders and partner countries, both a minute and a half each. The objective of both the films was to educate and empower the locals of the communities on their basic fundamental rights and to help young girls realise and practise their positions as active citizens in their community.

The script was written by THP India which was then handed over to Bakarmax for full end-to-end production which included script editing, character developments, storyboarding, animatics, backgrounds, animation, sound design and voiceovers.

The brief shared by THP was simple, the movies had to be factually correct, the characters appropriately represented according to their cultures and an art style that would be easy to understand to make sure that the script remained the hero of the movie. The voiceovers were in Hindi so the correct pronunciation and clarity were maintained for both films.

We had full creative freedom to decide on the physical appearance of the narrator and we zeroed down to 2 characters. A woman in her mid 20s to serve as the common narrator for both the films and one young preteen girl who played an important role in “Girls as active citizens” . We also made sure that all the characters used in the films looked appropriate according to any religious or socio-economic community they represented.

The final films took around a month to finish and given the very tight timelines, both films were produced and approved by The hunger project by following and maintaining a very detailed timeline. Both films will be shared on the Social Media channels of THP India.
