Not often do we get an opportunity to work on music videos (we’ve maybe explored doing it for our own original content a couple of times) but as we know, animation as a medium is still considered something for kids (World over, in fact. Recent case in example, this debacle at the Oscars.
So we were pleasantly surprised and super excited when we got this opportunity to work on a music video for Balmarayo – Rasul Mir’s classic qalaam. We collaborated with Vinayak Razdan who wrote the script for the video which was our starting point.
The discussions began and we spoke in detail about the complexity of the visuals and how to tackle them in art and animation. It was a highly collaborative process with the client and we worked closely through every step of the production process.
We also gathered references, samples for the places, and Sufi dance steps to understand further about the culture

We looked up the location of The Buddhas of Bamiyan and Using the sky Map app researched star positions and used that information to place stars in some Backgrounds.
